To ensure consistent testing conditions and effective tracking of body composition changes, follow these guidelines before each InBody Test.
The InBody Score is a numerically quantifiable body composition analysis output. It is a simplified score InBody has created to assess general distribution of body composition and track changes. It can be used to illustrate a quick gauge for a tester's current body composition balance and introduces a competitive edge when comparing score with others. There are some factors to consider that can cause inconsistent results...
- Dry/Callus hands and feet: Try to soak your hands and feet in warm water for about 5-10 min, dry, and retest
- Improper testing (socks, shoes, gloves): Make sure that you are testing with bare hands and feet
- Electrical interference: Try moving to an area that has a flat hard surface away from other electronic devices
- Device malfunction (sensor or handle cable): Warranty service is available for defective units.
- Improper testing preparation and testing: This can include not standing upright for five minutes prior; not removing heavy jewelry, watches, and jackets; not warming yourself up for 20 minutes in cold weather, not using the restroom before testing; having arms or legs touching while testing; or moving/ talking during the test.
Body water helps regulate body temperature and transports nutrients and wastes. In addition, body water is the main component of blood and plays a vital role as a transportation channel, and medium for various chemical reactions.
About 73% of fat free mass is made up of water, and muscle takes up a lot of fat-free mass. Therefore, the more muscle mass you have, the more body water you will also have.
Both low and high frequencies are required to achieve high accuracy and precision in measuring total body water.
