InBody is proud to be a sponsor at this year’s 5k and Family Fun Fair, hosted by Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. InBody’s sponsorship will benefit the Texas Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Childhood Obesity, whose stated mission is to combat the childhood obesity epidemic in central Texas.

Participating runners will have the opportunity to have their body composition analyzed at the Dell Children’s 5k with InBody’s premium medical grade device, the InBody 770,  The InBody 770 can report a number of valuable health metrics, including body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, total body water, segmental lean analysis, and much more.  There are future plans to bring the InBody770 to patients at the pediatric obesity clinic at Dell Children’s Medical Center as well.

Knowledge of body composition is essential to overcoming obesity.  InBody’s line of devices can quickly and accurately determine the total amount of body fat a person has and express this as a percentage of total body weight, which is a more useful method of understanding obesity than traditional metrics such as BMI. InBody devices can also reveal if there is a water imbalance inside the body that is causing bloating or swelling, as these can be signs of more serious medical issues in obese individuals.

The Dell Children’s 5k will be held at the Circuit of the Americas on Friday, April 18th in Austin, Texas, and will begin at 8:30am.  The Family Fun Fair will commence at 9:00am.
